Medication Management in
Long Beach and Cerritos, CA

Sometimes, managing your mental health may require more than therapy alone. The right medication, when clinically appropriate, can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns that may be affecting your daily life.

Daybreak Counseling Center provides personalized medication management for adolescents and adults in Long Beach, Cerritos, and throughout California via telehealth. Our providers take the time to understand your symptoms, health history, current medications, and treatment goals to develop a thoughtful plan tailored to you. Through regular follow-ups, we monitor your progress, address side effects, and make adjustments as needed to help you get the most from your treatment.

Understanding
Medication Management

Medication Management in Long Beach and Cerritos, CA

Medication management begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to understand your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatments, medications, and goals for care. This helps your provider develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

When medication may be beneficial, your psychiatric provider will discuss appropriate treatment options with you, including potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives. Medication is not automatically the right choice for everyone. Together, you and your provider will determine whether it may be a helpful part of your overall mental health care.

Ongoing medication management appointments allow your provider to monitor your progress, evaluate how you are responding to treatment, address any concerns or side effects, and make adjustments when clinically appropriate.

Already Seeing a Therapist?

You do not have to stop seeing your therapist in order to receive psychiatric care.

For clients already receiving therapy at Daybreak Counseling Center, psychiatric services can complement the work you are doing with your therapist. When appropriate and with your authorization, your providers can coordinate care so that medication management and psychotherapy support your overall treatment goals.

If you already have a therapist outside of Daybreak, you may still receive psychiatric services with us.

Do I Have to Take Medication?

No. Meeting with a psychiatric provider does not mean that you will automatically be prescribed medication.

Your initial appointment is an opportunity to discuss what you have been experiencing and receive a professional psychiatric assessment. If medication is recommended, Monique will discuss the options with you so that you can participate in making an informed decision about your treatment.
