When you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems, or other mental health concerns, understanding what’s behind your symptoms can be an important first step toward finding the right support.
Daybreak Counseling Center provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adolescents and adults in Long Beach, Cerritos, and throughout California via telehealth. Our evaluations are designed to develop a clearer understanding of your symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatment, and current concerns, helping identify your needs and guide appropriate next steps for care.

A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to better understand what you are experiencing and how your symptoms may be affecting your daily life. Your provider will take time to learn about your current concerns, mental health and medical history, previous treatment, family history, lifestyle, and goals for care.
During your evaluation, you will have the opportunity to discuss symptoms such as changes in mood, anxiety, concentration, sleep, energy, behavior, or other concerns. Your provider will consider the full picture rather than focusing on symptoms in isolation.
Based on the evaluation, your provider will discuss their findings with you and recommend appropriate next steps. This may include therapy, lifestyle recommendations, medication when clinically appropriate, or a combination of approaches tailored to your individual needs.

Psychiatric evaluations may be available for individuals experiencing:

Bipolar and other mood disorders

Treatment recommendations are individualized based on each person’s symptoms, history, needs, and circumstances.

You do not have to stop seeing your therapist in order to receive psychiatric care.
For clients already receiving therapy at Daybreak Counseling Center, psychiatric services can complement the work you are doing with your therapist. When appropriate and with your authorization, your providers can coordinate care so that medication management and psychotherapy support your overall treatment goals.
If you already have a therapist outside of Daybreak, you may still receive psychiatric services with us.
No. Meeting with a psychiatric provider does not mean that you will automatically be prescribed medication.
Your initial appointment is an opportunity to discuss what you have been experiencing and receive a professional psychiatric assessment. If medication is recommended, Monique will discuss the options with you so that you can participate in making an informed decision about your treatment.
